Over at Andrew Sullivan's blog today, he's got an article on the original source of "enhanced interrogation" -- and ... wait for it ... wait for it -- it's the classic irony of being a truly Godwin moment.
More after the flip...
In what may be the supreme irony of the whole "torture"/"enhanced interrogation" debate -- it turns out that even the Nazis were more humane than some of the proposed techniques we've advocated. They apparently did use stress positions (hard bed, etc.) and sleep deprivation, but drew the line at "waterboarding" and hypothermia.
Of course, these were determined to be torture techniques after WWII and those responsible were held to account -- how long until that's the case here?
